Laptop display problem | How To Troubleshoot Common Laptop Screen Problems

Laptop display problem

Like TVs, laptop screens start flickering after a few years. You may also notice that the screen goes blank even when the laptop is on. Alternatively, you may find white lines on the screen.
We've listed some of the most common laptop display problems along with DIY solutions...

Laptop does not turn on

This does not necessarily mean that there is a problem with the motherboard. If your laptop is shutting down every few minutes and not turning on, chances are the power adapter is faulty. You can get professional help to repair and replace the power adapter, if necessary. It is also possible that the DC power jack is broken. A DC connector (or DC jack) is an electrical connector that supplies fixed power to the device.
If the DC jack is broken, you can try adjusting the angle of the plug in its socket. If you see a few lights but the device still won't start, it's time to replace the DC plug. If that doesn't help, that's a clear indication of a motherboard-related problem. You can either repair the motherboard or replace it at the brand's service center. Motherboard repair can cost you up to 10,000 rupees while motherboard replacement cost can be up to 25,000 rupees.

Colored vertical lines on the screen

If you ever notice multicolored or monochromatic vertical lines on your laptop screen, it could be due to a hardware failure or screen damage. To try to fix it yourself, first turn off your laptop, hold down the button for 30 seconds, then restart the laptop. If you continue to see colored lines, the problem is most likely with the LCD screen, which will need to be replaced by the brand's service center. To be sure about the LCD screen problem, try connecting your laptop to another monitor and see if the problem persists. If so, the problem is most likely with the LCD screen.

Blank Display

When you turn on the laptop when you see the lights flashing and you hear the fan running, but when the laptop screen is dim and not displaying anything, that again indicates a faulty motherboard. The first thing you should do is transfer all data to another drive to make sure your data is safe. Before proceeding with motherboard repair or replacement, you can try performing a hard reset (also known as factory reset), which can usually help resolve the dim display issue.
To reset your laptop:

1. Turn off your laptop and unplug it from the power outlet.
2. Disconnect all connected peripherals such as USB devices and printers. Also unplug the AC adapter from the laptop
3. Remove the battery from the battery compartment
With the battery and power cord disconnected, press and hold the power button for approximately 20 seconds to drain each charge from the capacitors
5. Now put the battery back in the battery compartment and reconnect the AC adapter to the laptop, but do not connect any other device.
6. Press the power button to turn on the laptop and you will notice that the laptop boots normally or opens a boot menu
7. When a boot menu opens, use the arrow keys to select Start Windows Normally, then press "Enter".
If that doesn't fix the problem, you can check the motherboard.

Dim display

First check if the brightness level of your laptop is set to maximum. If the display is still dark, try restarting the device. It could just be a system error that can be fixed by restarting the device. Also check if the power adapter cord is loose and connect it properly to the outlet and the laptop. If the problem persists, it is mainly due to a defect in the LCD screen. Behind the LCD is an inverter board and backlight bulb that controls the image.

The inverter board converts the low voltage used by your laptop to the higher voltage required by the long lamp that illuminates the LCD screen. If the inverter board or the light bulb fails, you will encounter the problem of a clouded view. Even if one of these two components fails, the screen will need to be replaced unless the service center can help you by simply replacing the bulb. We don't recommend trying to fix it yourself, as this is more complex and could damage the circuit board and backlight. It is therefore best to entrust this work to an expert.

Cracked laptop screen

Laptops are vulnerable and can break easily, especially with the launch of increasingly thin and light models. Some of the most common ways a laptop can be damaged include: if it is accidentally dropped and the screen shatters, if it is held in an awkward corner, or if you have unknowingly placed something heavy on it. laptop. Remember that a cracked laptop screen can in some cases affect the overall functioning of the device.

Because brands don't cover the laptop screen, it's best to cover your device ahead of time with a protection plan. Screen replacements are expensive and can set you back up to Rs. 15,000,- but if you have the spill and drop protection plan, you don't have to worry about extra expenses for repairs, as any damage to the screen or device from the plan is addressed.
Another option is to protect your laptop for longer with our comprehensive warranty plan. The Onsitego extended warranty covers all faults and defects included in the standard manufacturer's warranty for a maximum of 4 years, excluding the manufacturer's warranty.
